GIRLS! GIRLS!
Last night was one small step for women, one big step for women-kind.

TSN had an all female broadcast crew calling the Raptors-Nuggets game. I must admit that I did not watch it, and that I am not big into sports. If it was up to me, I wouldn't really watch much television in general. As, I was without cable for 3 years, and grew used to watching Netflix whenever I had time. If I had 10 spare hours one day to watch movies or re-watch Gilmore Girls for the third time, all game. But, sports, or any other show, I don't feel drawn to watch.
However, I can still appreciate a monumental night when I hear about one. This is really big. Especially as a journalism student, and a woman. For so long, I have watched the news, and read news which mostly represented male journalists. Which isn't a bad thing, but slowly jobs that have been male for a long time are starting to have female representation and it feels nice. Women should receive equal opportunities for jobs in every field.

One other big step for women was when Sarah Thomas was the first woman to referee at the Soup Bowl! I can imagine how emotional moments like this would be. These are women who are typically passionate about the sport, and to be the first woman is amazing. Even if I was in their position, I would feel emotional, and be a nervous wreck.

Seeing stories like these may be nothing so some, but to me it just puts a smile on my face. It makes me feel like we are getting somewhere, and that that could be me one day. Maybe I wont be the first to do a typically male represented position, but just to be given an equal chance at something I love is appreciated. This sounds a little crazy as I type it. I sometimes need to pinch myself at the fact that people still put others on a totem pole. Typically with white, straight, Christian men on top, not just with employment and pay, but across the board. In my eyes, everyone is equal. Everyone is unique and different, but we all deserve equal pay, rights and opportunities.
Canada, and the rest of the world still have a long way to go. But, every step, big or small is a step. Lets continue to take steps forward, and not take any steps backward. She is the past, we do not need her.
I hope y'all are healthy and safe. Thanks for reading humans.
DON'T JUDGE.
EQUAL-EYES.
